Barranquilla

The city of Barranquilla also known as Kurramba-la-linen, department Atlantiko capital, it is located in a northwest part of Colombia, approximately in 13 km upstream from a mouth of the river Magdalena and in 80 km to the east of Cartagena.

Based in 1620 as the trading trading station on the bank of Magdalena, is today one of the largest industrial centres of the country and one of its main ports (vessels of an ocean class cannot rise upwards on the river, therefore the seaport role carries out small town Puerto-Kolumbija in a mouth of Magdalena).

The main sights of a city are universities Atlantiko (1941) and Del-Norte (1966), a fine zoo, the Anthropological museum, the Museum of natural sciences protecting relic damp woods and bogs National park of island Salamanca (the area of 21 000 hectare).
