The huge reserve (the area of 58 300 hectare) lays all in 40 km from Manizales, protecting unique экоценозы tropical wood and the mountain meadows concentrated round an edge of snow of dozing volcano Nevado-del-Ruis (5321). In the most southern part of a chain of Cordilleras, at border with Ecuador, the small town Ipjales, in 7 km from which, over river Guitara gorge lays, Gothic church Santuario-de-Nuestra-Sekora-de-Las-Lahas (XVIII) rises. Uniqueness of this construction that it has been constructed so that the rock and the image of Maiden Mari which have appeared here wonderfully in the beginning of XVIII century, are a church altar. Pilgrims from all Colombia and Ecuador come here to see this place which besides is famous for the wonderful phenomena.
