Park and palace Кадриорг You will be infinitely fascinated, having visited a magnificent palace in style барроко and park Kadriorg, located to the east, in 2 km. From the centre of Tallinn.

This local sight - one of the best creations of masters of XVIII century in the then Estljandsky province, erected by order of Peter I in days of Northern war. In 1714 for Peter I at family Дрентельнов it has been got summer мыза under park and palace building. Initially the park intended for walks of townspeople (which наслышанные about stern temper of the tsar, simply were afraid to walk there), a palace - for summer residence of the imperial family, named in honour of wife Peter I - го, Ekaterinas I - Кадриорг (Ekaterina's Valley). It is possible to consider as Birthday Кадриорга on July, 22nd, 1718. Peter I has arrived to Tallinn by the ship on July, 19th. With the tsar there have arrived Roman architect Nikkolo Miketti accepted several months ago on Russian service and its journeyman Гаэтано Киавери who has surpassed the teacher later. Together they have defined a place an arrangement and a composition of "a new palace", and also the plan of breakdown of park and gardens. From a palace the kind on the Old City of Tallinn, harbour and the sea (as is known, that Peter I tested bent for to the sea and consequently the place choice was not casual) opened.

During lifetime of Peter I palace building has not been finished. Further palace Кадриорг as imperial residence, it was used rather seldom. During visits to Tallinn to a palace all Russian emperors - from Peter I to last of Romanov's dynasty - Nikolay II stopped.

In 1919 the palace history as museum, where present time распологается the Art museum has begun. The museum meeting consists of more than 900 West European and Russian picturesque cloths, 3500 printing editions and about 3000 sculptures. The lobby and some other rooms in the main building have kept the initial shape.
