In the south of the country the small town Lumbini — a place which is considered the native land of the Buddha is located. In memory of this event are presented a pond in which mother Siddharthi Gautamy bathed before sorts, a temple to its honour, set буддистских the temples constructed in different architectural styles by the countries in which territory profess the Buddhism. Temples are scattered on all territory of extensive park which surrounds this sacred place for each Buddhist.

Лумбини (a Sanskrit: "favourite") — a temple complex and a place of pilgrimage of Buddhists in territory of Nepal in district Rupandehi, on border with India. Лумбини it is considered the birthplace of Buddha Gautamy, the Buddhism founder (presumably 563 to н. e.-483 BC). Недалико from Лумбини there was a city of Kapilavastu where the Buddha was born and has grown till 29 years.
In 1896 Nepalese archeologists have found the big stone column with inscriptions of tsar Ashoki. Records of the Chinese pilgrim Fa Tszjana have remained also, helping to identify the birthplace of the Buddha.
Except Лумбини places of the pilgrimage, connected with a life of Buddha Gautamy are also Кушинагар, Bodh-Gaja and Сарнатх in India.
The central part of complex Лумбини is occupied with temple Майя Деви devoted to mother of the Buddha, with the ancient memorable stone representing a birth of the Buddha.
The temple is adjoined by a column of tsar Ashoki with an inscription. Round a temple — an archaeological zone with the rests of constructions of the early Buddhism and tree Бодхи.
All complex consists of ten Buddhist monasteries, temples, mortars of different faiths and other monuments.
