Lalitpur is on a South side the party of the river Bagmati from Katmandu, uniting with Katmandu in a conglomerate. The basic population — невари. Patan is considered one of the most beautiful cities of the world because of a large quantity of sights. Therefore the name of the city of Lalitpur accepted officially now, означаел a beauty city.

History

There is no information when the city of Patan was formed, the history is known only for episodes. On legends here there was still a Buddha and its pupil Anand.

Nearby 250 BC Indian tsar Ashoka (which has won huge territories and has introduced the Buddhism) has located here, having constructed with four parties of a mortar with inscriptions.

In 1000 the population of Patan made about hundred thousand persons then it was one of the greatest cities of the world.

Blossoming of Patan has fallen XVI-XVIII to centuries during board неварской dynasties of Mull.
