Khorog

Khorog – capital of mountain-Badahshansky area (since 1925). It is a small city. Before revolution here there were two kishlaks. Communication between them was carried out on mountain tracks. The valley in these places very narrow, therefore a city represents actually one street. The city is surrounded by gardens. Its green dress apple-trees form, apricots and mulberry trees.

Near to Khorog on an eminence the Pamir botanical garden settles down. Here plants, trees and bushes almost from all countries of the world are collected.

In Khorog there is small, but a beautiful park with lake and stadium. Once this edge was completely illiterate. During the Soviet period tens schools, libraries, technical schools, schools began to appear. Here there have passed the automobile paths which have connected Pamir with the railway and with all country.
