Tajikistan - one of the most ancient states of the world, which big territory is covered with mountains. Pamir is that knot from which the highest disperse every which way in the world ranges, including Каракорум and the Himalayas in the south, Hindu Kush in the west, and Tien Shan in the northeast.
Tajikistan - small центральноазиатская the country adjoining on Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Afghanistan. Tajikistan is very mountainous. On the one hand it means, that the landscape has excellent possibilities for the pedestrian tourism, but on the other hand it means, that travel can be difficult enough and tiresome.
Capital of Tajikistan - Dushanbe, is located in a picturesque and fertile Gissarsky valley, at height of 750-930 m above sea level. It is one of the most high-mountainous capitals of the world and one of the largest cultural centres in Asia. The Soviet period has left the trace in architecture of buildings, nevertheless, the streets set with trees and Stalin governmental buildings are not deprived certain charm. The greatest sight in a city - closed market Barakat where the colourful Tadjik goods are on sale. Among other sights - monument Исмаилу Сомони, the memorial complex Айни named in honour of the father of the Tadjik literature, city park, opera and ballet theatre of S.Ajni, tea «Рохат», a historical museum. An ethnography museum - present "show-window" of the Tadjik art with impressing exposition of pottery, carpets, jewelry and musical instruments of all historical epoch of Tajikistan.
In territory of modern Tajikistan the ancient cities of Pendzhikent, Ходжент, Ur-Tjube are located. Пенджикент was one of the most developed cities in ancient Central Asia. Architectural monuments of civilisation Согдиан are the present masterpieces. The architectural composition of palaces and temples Пенджикента is unique and has no analogues neither in Central Asia, nor in other countries of the East. Ходжент - capital of northern Tajikistan and the second-large city in the country, and also one of the oldest cities in Asia. Being in an input to Fergana valley, a city all centuries-old history prospered and grew rich, being one of the main centres of the Great Silk way. This epoch has left numerous palaces, mosques and a city citadel.
The kingdom of climbers and a snow leopard is Pamir. Here among mountain peaks in height to 7000 m and above, the network of deep and wide valleys, numerous plateaus with gorges of the prompt mountain rivers have settled down. Inhabitants of Pamir are very hospitable and, not looking at a poor life, to tourists will always offer a place under a roof, овчинное a blanket and hot «шер tea» - tea with the goat milk, salt and oil. Nevertheless, it is possible to find so-called "shelters" isolated from world around which work as primitive boards in mountains.
